5th Grade Gesture/Contour Drawings

We started off the year in 5th grade Art with drawing this mannequin in our sketchbooks using gesture lines. Students created 3 minute, 2 minute, AND 1 minute drawings, which was VERY challenging! After our timed drawings were completed, we took a marker and found the contour line around the edge of our drawings, which emphasizes the shape of the figure. They did a FANTASTIC job!

Ms. Hatch is blue and it is not because of the weather. She will not be able to attend Meet the Teacher night, but instead will be at her place of higher learning (Wayne State). Have a great time tonight! The door will be open and you're welcome to peek around the Art room.

Art Room Donations

We will begin our first official art lessons this week! Sometimes, it can get a little messy in the art room. To keep ourselves and our clothes as tidy as possible, we use smocks. You are welcome to have your own child/children bring their own smock to art class, or the art room can provide one. I prefer to use large, old t-shirts, ones without buttons. The art room can always use more, so if you decide to do some closet-cleaning, then feel free to send them our way! We also welcome plastic containers, dixie cups, yarn, etc. Thanks so much and have a great week!
